Empowering Tiger Widows & Their Children

In the remote Sundarbans, many families depend on the forest for survival. Tragically, every year women lose their husbands to tiger attacks while they are fishing or collecting honey, leaving them to face overwhelming poverty, social isolation, emotional trauma, and the responsibility of raising children alone.

Through its Tiger Widow Rehabilitation Programme, Naihati New Life Society is committed to restoring hope and dignity by supporting 100 Tiger Widow families and approximately 200 children. The programme provides sustainable livelihood opportunities through mangrove plantation and animal husbandry, vocational training, healthcare and nutrition support, psychosocial counselling, educational assistance for children, and access to government welfare schemes. Community-based learning centres and women's self-help groups further strengthen long-term resilience and self-reliance.

Restoring Hope. Rebuilding Lives.

Behind every Tiger Widow is a story of unimaginable loss—but also remarkable courage. With the right support, these women can rebuild their lives, secure a better future for their children, and become financially independent while helping protect the fragile Sundarbans ecosystem.
