Recognition of Environmental Champion – Shri Dukhu Majhi ("Gach Baba")
As part of its commitment to recognising grassroots environmental champions, Naihati New Life Society honoured Shri Dukhu Majhi of Birbhum, fondly known as "Gach Baba," for his lifelong dedication to afforestation and environmental conservation. Having devoted decades to planting and nurturing thousands of trees, Shri Majhi has become an inspiring symbol of environmental stewardship and community service.
In recognition of his extraordinary contribution and considering his modest living conditions, the Society extended financial assistance of ₹50,000 along with essential grocery support to him and his family. Through this initiative, Naihati New Life Society not only expressed its gratitude to a true environmental hero but also sought to inspire individuals and communities to take collective responsibility for protecting nature and preserving the environment for future generations.
